I Saw It on the Internet is an analog photograph taken on expired film. The person in the selfie stages herself in a setting that showcases the best version of herself. The photograph presents two representations of her body: one faithful to reality, the other excessively retouched. This desire for perfection is driven by the photographic standards and beauty norms that are mass-distributed across social media. Users construct their self-image based on these body ideals seen over and over again on the Internet: a slim waist, a full chest, wide hips, tanned skin, and long legs. The expired film alters the woman's body, embodying the visual pollution generated by social media and its representations of bodies that are often far removed from reality.
